Claire Williams, M.A., LMFT
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist who utilizes dialectical behavioral, cognitive behavioral and solution focused interventions to help my clients bring about the necessary changes in their lives to feel comfortable and happy again and diminish the distress and discomfort they are feeling. By learning to focus on strengths and resources rather than past problems and failings, my clients report feeling less depressed and anxious, while looking forward to the days ahead. I am aware of the important role of thinking in how we feel and what we do, and so I help my clients replace dysfunctional thoughts with more adaptive ones. I also teach mindfulness skills to my clients for the purpose of helping them to become more aware of their emotions and learn more effective ways to cope with distressing emotions.
These various interventions can be used with a wide variety of symptoms, such as addiction recovery and maintenance, depression, anxiety, and relationship issues. I work with adolescents, adults, couples and families.
Life is special, and I look forward to developing an enriching relationship with my clients to help them achieve their own personal change.
